BIO:

Shelby Henkel was born and raised in Seattle, Washington where she played two sports, soccer and basketball. Henkel has had the opportunity to train at some of the highest levels in youth soccer including; USYSA National Training Camp, USYSA ODP Regional Jamboree, and the Bobby Howe Clinic. She played for the WSYSA State ODP team, USYSA Region IV ODP, USYSA U-16 National ODP team, as well as playing with one of the top premier clubs in the state of Washington, Washington Soccer Club. On her high school soccer team Henkel was a 3 time all conference selection, and Seattle Times “Star of the Week”. Henkel received a full ride athletic scholarship to play both soccer and basketball, but decided to play soccer, and played at Illinois State University. She was a 3 year starter on her college soccer team and a 3-time MVC All-Conference Selection. In 1999 Henkel led her ISU team to their first ever regular season championship. She was named conference MVP in 1998 and conference offensive player of the week in 1999. She graduated from ISU with a B.S. in Sociology and was named a State Farm/AFNI Honor Roll Student Athlete. In 2007 Henkel was nominated to the Missouri Valley Conference All Centennial Team.

Henkel currently holds a IWSL “E” License.
